Of the more than $100 million for the healthcare industry that California will receive from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the California Health and Human Services Agency will get $38.8 million to build a statewide health information exchange (HIE).

Bill Beighe, Chief Information Officer of Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz County (PMG) and the Santa Cruz Health Information Exchange has been appointed to the Cal eConnect board of directors. Cal eConnect is the Governance Entity for health information exchange (HIE).
